В Париже на торги выставлены любовные письма Эдит Пиаф, никогда ранее не публиковавшиеся. Начальная цена лота составит от 50 до 80 тысяч евро. Радио Свобода приводит выдержки из писем культовой французской певицы, чей голос одинаково торжественно пел гимн родине и гимн любви.

Подборка из 54 любовных писем Эдит Пиаф, адресованных известному спортсмену Луи Жирардену, выставлена на торги аукционного дома Christie’s, которые состоятся 25 июня 2009 года в Париже. Письма были написаны в период с 15 ноября 1951 года по 18 сентября 1952 года, и ранее нигде не публиковались.

Поклонники известной певицы и актрисы говорят о том, что ее недолгая 48-летняя жизнь была полна таким количеством скорби и драматических событий, которого хватило бы на несколько судеб. Биография Пиаф – это длинная повесть о человеческих эмоциях, и страстях, которые терзали ее как на сцене, так и в реальной жизни, состоящей из кажущейся бесконечной цепи романтических привязанностей, замужеств и любовных интриг. Одно из звеньев этой цепи – роман Пиаф с известным французским велосипедистом Луи Жирарденом, длившийся на протяжении нескольких месяцев начала 1950-х годов – наглядно иллюстрирует подборка писем.

Эти письма, относящиеся к одному из самых трагичных периодов в жизни певицы, проливают свет на время, последовавшее за трагической гибелью легендарного французского боксера Марселя Сердана, которого многие до сих пор считают главной любовью в жизни Пиаф. Этой точки зрения придерживался и автор фильма о Пиаф "Жизнь в розовом цвете" (2007) Луи Даан.

Письма позволяют увидеть ранимую и страстную женщину. Она пишет о том, как знакомство с Жирарденом изменило ее жизнь – она клянется завязать с алкоголем, если он пообещает остаться с ней, она хочет выйти за него замуж и поселиться в домике под Парижем, чтобы вести жизнь образцовой домохозяйки.

Пиаф, находящаяся в постоянных разъездах из-за плотного гастрольного графика, пишет Жирардену иногда по два-три письма в день, заверяя его в искренности своей любви и выражая беспокойство по поводу его ответных чувств и ревнивого характера его жены. Также она упоминает о своих достижениях, пишет об успехе песни "Голубые глаза" ("Les Yeux bleus"), рассказывает о Шарле Азнавуре, которому в то время помогала, и который участвовал вместе с ней в гастролях.

Фотографии оригиналов писем поступили в редакцию Радио Свобода 27 мая в приложении к пресс-релизу аукционного дома Christie's. Некоторые из них написаны ровным безупречным почерком, другие полны исправлений, пометок на полях, так, чтобы не осталось ни одного чистого места на листе бумаги.

You are absolutely right! No French site is comparable to this.
I'd really want to join you. I just feel uncomfortable writing in English when this is a Russian site. If it is ok, I could sometimes write something in English, but in general I'll try to understand what's written in Russian and not to rise the same questions. I understand some of the spoken Russian, but I have no idea of the grammar, and I struggle with the alphabet very much.
It's just so nice to see that there are more people who are fond of Edith. I like her immensely, but I don't know other people who would even have heard a few of her songs. It's a strange feeling that I know so many songs by heart, listen to them, read books but cannot discuss all that with anyone. I even went to France last year together with my friend mostly for visiting her museum and buying some books and CD's that I couldn't get here (I'm from Latvia).

People here do know Russian, but I'm not one of them. I was born i 1989, so I didn't really need to know it, and at school I preferred to learn German. Living here I've of coure heard people speak Russian and from that I can mostly understand what they are talking about, but I haven't learnt it at all.

I'm sorry, I don't have any pictures from the museum. I cannot remeber precisely, but I guess taking photos wasn't allowed there therefore I didn't take any. It is very nice, there are two small rooms full of different things including the famous boxing gloves of Marcel Cerdan, clothes, letters and really a lot of drawings and paintings of her. I also bought the film "Montmartre sur Seine" there. I was pretty impressed to know, before I go there that the owner of the museum had himself met Edith. Unfortunately my French wasn't so good to ask him more about it (I have built it mostly through songs, starting with "La Foule"). He has practically devoted all his life maintaining this museum.
In France I also bought the book "Mon amie" by Ginou Richer. At the beginning I couldn't choose which book to buy because there were lots of them, but in the end I'm glad that I picked that one. She reveals much about the life of Edith and writes very fondly of her, like a true friend.

The owner of museum, Bernard Marchois, really met Edith Piaf when he was very young
You can read about this story in the book about Edith Piaf written by Silvain Reiner. I don't know was it published in English or no, the author is the Frenchman. In Russia this book has appeared two years ago.

The "Montmartre sur Seine" is a very rare film!!! It's one of the films with Edith which we haven't in the collection... We've seen just fragments from it. You are owner of the unique thing!

Thank you very much! If I try I can slowly start to understand something also in Russian. I actually tried to read some bits of the book by Simone Berteaut found on this site and managed to understand them approximately. It's a pity that here the only book I can buy is "Au bal de la chance" as there are many other. One thing I'm not really sure about - is "Au bal dela chance" the only book based on the interviews with Edith herself? I have also heard about one called "Ma vie" but much less.
It is possible to buy any film featuring Piaf at the museum. I wonder why aren't they more widely accessible, after all she was such a star and I suppose people would be willing to buy them. After returning from France I found that "Etoile sans lumiere" was available on DVD in amazon.com, so I've got that one too, but I that is all.

I'm not sure that I understand you right, but "Au bal de la chance" and "Ma vie" are books written by Edith about herself. It hasn't nothing to do with interviews. Edith is the author of both books and she writes about her life. It's not questions and answers.
It's a pity that the books about Edith Piaf don't sell in Latvia... There are many books about her in Russia. If you have questions after reading these books in Russian please ask us, we'll try to help you (but better to write in topics about them).

Yes, I know that "Au bal de la chance" is not questions and answers, I've read it. The reason I mentioned interviews is that I guess I heard somewhere that the book was much edited before publication, perhaps I jumped to conclusions that it was compiled from interviews, I don't remebber precisely as I read it more than a year ago, but now I see that I was mistaken.

I advise you to read the book "Ma vie" (of course if you can find it in English or French), it is very interesting and candid.
Besides of that, you can download different TV-programs, concerts and films with Edith from this site.

Belka, yes, thank you, I've been listening to them for a long time.
The recordings from Carnegie hall 1956 are absolutely fantastic. I guess it's the best concert of Edith of all, and also the sound quality is great. When I heard her performance of Hymne a l'amour (If you love me, really love me) I thought - who would ever dare to repeat that?!
